The grape harvest season

The grape harvest season

The “queen time” of the world of wine is arriving, the grape harvest season

We have a huge attention and interest with this season. Some of us, since the childhood are connected to this moment, of hope, optimism, expectation and a lot of work.

Because of climate change, the harvest season was also affected, at least in terms of timing. In the past, the end of summer and the beginning of autumn were synonymous with harvests and, in Portugal, the harvest season started around the second half of September and 1 October, when the grapes were ready to be harvested.

Nowadays and in the last years, we have seen a decrease in the calendar, and it is the middle of August and in some regions the first harvests are started, first white grapes and then the others.

This year, we already have harvests taking place in the Algarve, Alentejo, Madeira and the Azores. In the remaining regions of the country, preparations are already being made all over the wine-growing territory, from the Minho to the Algarve, through the Douro, Dão, Bairrada, etc.

We are as always expectant and very inspired by what awaits us this noble season, which we believe is usually auspicious; we will try until November to remain attentive and share with you.

After the Harvest Fiesta, and here in Portugal the tradition is to work hard but with joy, perhaps as a way to overcome the arduous effort of those who are harvesting the fruit of the vineyards. The transformation of the grape follows.

The transformation of the grapes takes place after the harsh harvests, divided into four stages: t In addition to good fruit, it is expected that each of the stages of wine production will ensure the good result.

In the meantime, we will continue to promote the best made in Portugal, with more news and when the time comes to launch new harvests, we offer a toast. The collection of the grape, the destemming, followed by crushing and finally the depletion. Cheers to you!
